Abstract

Electricity has become a primary necessity in all aspects of life, including energy from renewable sources. Indonesia is committed to increasing the contribution of renewable energy to 23% in the national energy mix by 2025. One of the strategic steps is the development of large-scale solar power plants (PLTS) such as the Cirata PLTS (145 MW) in West Java. However, the installed capacity of PLTS in Indonesia is still small compared to the potential solar energy available, especially in Sumatra, where electricity demand has grown by 7% per year over the past five years. This research aims to design a 300 MW PLTS in Tanjung Pasir, South Sumatra. The design includes the creation of a Single Line Diagram (SLD) and Detailed Engineering Design (DED), cable measurements, layout, system configuration, wiring diagrams, and SCADA architecture using AutoCAD. System simulations were conducted using PVsyst. The simulation results show that the Tanjung Pasir location has high solar radiation intensity and optimal geographical characteristics to support the development of solar power plants (PLTS), with a Global Horizontal Irradiation (GHI) of 1706.1 kWh/m². The results of this PLTS system simulation produce an energy output of 464,838,089 kWh per year, with specific production reaching 1456 kWh/kWp/year, and a Performance Ratio (PR) of 82.63%. This study has produced the first large-scale PLTS design in South Sumatra, which is expected to meet the growing electricity demand and support the national energy transition target towards cleaner and more sustainable sources.
