Abstract

Hodgsonia macrocarpa (Blume) Cogn. known as Tetap Kadam is one of the typical medicinal plants of the Besemah tribe in Lahat Regency which is used on the stem in treating infectious diseases. Seeing the potential of Tetap Kadam leaves can be used as medicine because of the presence of several classes of secondary metabolite compounds, so this study aims to determine the dominant compounds, the abundance of metabolite compounds and the biocativity of metabolite compounds in Tetap Kadam leaves using the GC-MS (Gas Chromatograpy-Mass Spectrometry) method and determine antioxidant levels using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. GC-MS data were then searched using PubChem, KEGG, Spectrabase, PlantCye, and ChEBI websites. Measurement of antioxidant levels by DPPH method using ascorbic acid and quercetin comparison solutions. Metabolite profile in methanol extract of Tetap Kadam leaves detected 6 metabolite compounds with 3 dominant compounds identified namely 2-Propanol, 1,1'-oxybis (37.81%), 2-Propanol, 1,1'-oxybis (7.07%), 1-Propanol, 2-(2-hydroxypropoxy)- (8.76%), and 1-Propanol, 2,2'-oxybis- (43.81%). The compounds detected came from 3 biosynthetic pathways including the ether pathway (97.45%), mevalonic acid pathway (1.94%) and alcohol pathway (0.6%) and grouped 4 classes of compound classes namely ether (97.45%), diterpenoids (1.35%), and terpenoid alcohol (0.59%) and alcohol (0.6%). The results of antioxidant calculations with ascorbic acid standards obtained levels of 124.2 ± 18.3 ppm while with quercetin standards 273.6 ± 74.1 ppm. Compounds in methanol extract of Tetap Kadam leaves have bioactivities as antioxidants, antimicrobials, antipyretics, analgesics, anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, antitubercolosis, and antinociceptive so that Tetap Kadam leaves have pharmacological potential as medicinal plants.
