Abstract
Refillable drinking water is susceptible to contamination due to ineffective processing, the use of outdated sterilizers, and handlers who do not pay attention to personal hygiene. Without good sanitary hygiene, the risk of contamination is higher, making drinking water hazardous to health and potentially spreading disease. Therefore, the implementation of sanitary hygiene must be prioritized. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the application of sanitary hygiene of refill drinking water depots in Ogan Ilir Regency. The research method used was quantitative with a cross-sectional approach and the determination of the research sample was carried out using Proportional random sampling technique. A total of 80 refillable drinking water depot (DAMIU) handlers in Ogan Ilir Regency were sampled in this study with inclusion criteria must be involved in the entire process of filling drinking water, including handling equipment and sanitation facilities. Data were analyzed using chi-square test or fisher exact test. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between knowledge (p-value 0,012), attitude (p-value 0,045), education (p-value 0,045), and health department supervision (p-value 0,003) with the application of hygiene and sanitation of refill drinking water depots in Ogan Ilir Regency. However, no relationship was found between length of work (p-value 0,366) and training (p-value 0,348) with the application of hygiene and sanitation of refill drinking water depots in Ogan Ilir Regency. In conclusion, the factor most associated with the implementation of hygiene and sanitation is supervision from the Health Office. The advice for DAMIU operators is to immediately follow up on recommendations from the Health Office when supervision has been conducted so that sanitary hygiene standards are maintained.
