Abstract

The purpose of this research were to (1) calculate the differences income of farmers land conversion and farmers non-conversion of land in the Bandar Tongah village Bandar Huluan subdistrict , (2) identify factors that influence farmers to convert farming rice land into farming red chili land in Bandar Tongah village Bandar Huluan subdistrict. This research was conducted in Bandar tongah village Bandar Huluan subdistrict. The data collection was conducted in March 2016. The location determination is done intentionally (purposive) with the consideration that in the Bandar Tongah Village Bandar Huluan Subdistrict there are people who are converting land into farming rice land into farming red chili land. The method used is a survey method. The sampling method used was stratified random impartial method is by taking 6.8% of the population of farmers land conversion as many as 24 samples and 6.8% of the population of farmers non-conversion of as many as 16 samples. Based on the research that has been carried out, (1) the income of farmers whose land conversion is higher than the income of farmers who do not convert the land, where the average income of farmers whose land conversion is Rp 114,915,881.22 per hectare per year, whereas the income of farmers who do not convert land was Rp 33,550,992.95 per hectare per year with different revenue of Rp 81,364,888.27 per hectare per year, (2) factors that positively influence the decisions of farmers in the conversion of farming rice into farming red chili are aged farmers, education level, income and the number of neighbors who do the conversion, while the factors that do not affect the decision of farmers in the conversion of land that are rice farming experience and the number of family members.
