Abstract

Densely populated countries often face economic challenges, particularly income inequality. This study analyzes the impact of Poverty, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and Economic Growth on Income Inequality in 10 densely populated countries from 2010 to 2019. The data were obtained from the World Bank and analyzed using the panel data regression method through the E-Views 12 application. The results show that Poverty has a significant positive effect on income inequality, indicating that income inequality worsens as poverty increases. Meanwhile, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has a positive but not significant effect on income inequality, reflecting an unequal distribution of foreign investment inflows. Additionally, Economic Growth exhibits a negative correlation with income inequality, suggesting a reduction in inequality, though the effect is not significant. These findings highlight the importance of policies that not only focus on increasing foreign direct investment and economic growth but also emphasize equitable economic distribution efforts to reduce income inequality.
