Abstract

Skonjing Village has high butterfly diversity due to favorable environmental conditions, such as the availability of host plants and nectar sources. However, human activities such as land conversion and habitat degradation have the potential to reduce butterfly populations. This study aims to analyze butterfly diversity in Skonjing Village using the Shannon diversity index, dominance index, and evenness index. The research was conducted using the exploration method using insect nets in four locations: oil palm plantations, vegetable plantations, flower yards, and bushes. Data were analyzed using the Shannon-Weiner Diversity Index (H'), Dominance Index (C), and Evenness Index (E), and correlated with environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and light intensity. The results showed that there were 1,502 individuals of 33 butterfly species belonging to five families: Nymphalidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Hesperiidae, and Lycaenidae. The Pieridae family had the highest population, while Papilionidae had the least. The bush and flowerbed habitats had the highest diversity. The Shannon diversity index was 3.10, indicating high diversity. Environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and light intensity affect the distribution of butterflies.
