Abstract

Synthesis and characterization of LaxSr(1-x)MnO3 (x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.0) as microwave absorbers were conducted using mechanical milling. Starting materials included La2O3, SrCO3, MnO2, and ethanol. The samples were mixed and milled for 5 hours, dried at 80°C for 24 hours, and sintered at 1000°C for 5 hours. XRD analysis revealed that SrMnO3 (x = 0.0) formed a main phase of SrMnO3 and a secondary phase of MnO3, while La0.25Sr0.75MnO3, La0.50Sr0.50MnO3, and La0.75Sr0.25MnO3 exhibited a main phase of LaSrMnO3 and a secondary phase of SrMnO3. LaMnO3 (x = 1.0) showed a main phase of LaMnO3 and a secondary phase of MnO3. SEM characterization shows different shapes and sizes particle with sizes ranging from 100 to 800 nm, with an average size of ±413.36 nm. VNA analysis showed the highest microwave absorption (97.61%) for x = 0.0 and the lowest (74.07%) for x = 1.0, indicating that La3+ substitution reduces absorption. This study provides a foundation for developing new microwave-absorbing materials based on the LaxSr(1-x)MnO3 series.
