Abstract
This study aimed to develop a model and identify the factors influencing student admission at the “M” learning center in Palembang City. The research focused on the selection for admission to public universities through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) and the Computer-Based Test National Selection (SNBT). The method used was binary logistic regression. The research data included 123 students attending the “M” learning center for the 2023/2024 academic year. The research variables included student identity (gender, school status, study group/major), average report card grades from the first to the fifth semester, average scores of three UTBK tryouts for seven subtests, and additional data in the form of attendance frequency in tutoring sessions and hours of independent study. The final model of the SNBP track showed that the significant variable was the average report card grade from the first to the fifth semester (X_8), with the equation model π(x)=exp(-36,391+0,398X_8)/(1+exp(-36,391+0,398X_8)). An odds ratio of 1.489 indicated that each one-unit increase in report card grade increases the probability of admission by 1.489 times. The final model of the SNBT track showed that the significant variables are the average score of the three tryouts of Quantitative Knowledge (X_10), Reading and Writing Comprehension (X_12), and English Literacy (X_14), with the equation π(x)=exp(-6,679+0,015X_10-0,014X_12+0,011X_14)/(1+exp(-6,679+0,015X_10-0,014X_12+0,011X_14)). For example, the odds ratio of 0.986 showed that each one-unit increase in the Reading and Writing Comprehension subtest score reduced the probability of admission by 1.4%. Both models had a classification accuracy of over 70%, making them suitable for predicting student graduation status. In conclusion, academic performance, both report card grades and tryout scores, was the primary determinant of graduation, and the "M" learning center is expected to create a special program that emphasizes improving these significant factors.
