Abstract

Malapari plant (Pongamia pinnata L.) is a poisonous plant of the fabaceae family that has the potential as a natural pest control bioinsecticide because it contains secondary metabolite compounds that show cytotoxic activity that can be identified based on their toxicity levels. This study aims to determine the secondary metabolite compounds contained in Malapari plants (Pongamia pinnata L.) as a source of bioinsecticides. This research was conducted from August to December 2024 at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biology, FMIPA, Sriwijaya University. The research methods used were the manufacture of simplicia, extraction, identification of compounds from plant parts through Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), phytochemical analysis using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and toxicity tests on larvae (Artemia salina L.) The results of TLC analysis showed the presence of phenols, flavonoids, steroids, and alkaloids, tannins in leaf, bark, and seed extracts. GC-MS results showed that the extract contained active compounds such as alkaloids, palmitic acid, linoleic acid, oleic acid, flavonoids, that have activity as bioinsecticides. BSLT test showed that methanol extracts of leaves, bark, and seeds had LC50 values of 78.752 µg/mL, and 102.820 µg/mL131.243 µg/mL, respectively, indicating that this extract has strong cytotoxic activity and has the potential as a natural bioinsecticide.
