Abstract

A. granosa (blood clam) is one of the bivalve species that can be found in Sungsang waters and is a marine biota that has potentially toxic secondary metabolite compounds. Research was conducted to analyze the toxicity of A. granosa meat and shell extracts using 96% ethanol solvent. Samples were taken through random sampling followed by the process of sample preparation, maceration, and extraction of active compounds. Toxicity tests using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method to evaluate toxicity based on LC50 values Qualitative phytochemical analysis and GC-MS were carried out to identify active compounds. Based on the results of the toxicity test, the meat and shell parts show a significant toxic category, at the Barong River location the shell part with an LC50 value of 82.84 µg/mL and a shell of 236.58 µg/mL. At the Musi Estuary location for meat with an LC50 value of 78.67 µg/mL and a shell of 280.19 µg/mL. Phytochemical analysis of A. granosa revealed the presence of alkaloids, steroids, and saponins in the shell meat. GC-MS analysis found the dominance of bioactive compounds in the form of esters and fatty acids, which have pharmacological potential such as anticancer, antifungal, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory. This study provides additional insight into the potential use of A. granosa (blood clam) as a source of bioactive compounds with significant pharmacological activity.
