Abstract

The purpose of this study is to: 1) Analyze the role of Sido Mukti Gapoktan in the business activities of rice farmers in Kelurahan Mariana Kecamatan Banyuasin I Kabupaten Banyuasin. 2) Analyze the differences income of rice farmers who are gapoktan members and gapoktan non-members. 3) Analyzing the relationship role Gapoktan Sido Mukti against members of farmers' income. 4) Analyze the factors that affecting any rice farmers’ income that are became gapoktan members and gapoktan non-members. This research was conducted in Kelurahan Mariana Kecamatan Banyuasin I Kabupaten Banyuasin of South Sumatera Province. Data collection was carried out in April 2014. The method used in this research is a survey method while the method of sampling used in this research is a method of Disproportionate Stratified Sampling by taking 30 farmers of gapoktan members and 30 farmers of gapoktan non-members. Based on the results of the study of Gapoktan Sido Mukti role in Kelurahan Mariana in fresh waterswamps rice farming based on the score calculation result of its function to the farmers from the three role indicators assessed namely as the central agencies of agriculture, as the increased of food security at the local level and, as a business institution of rural economy (LUEP) were classified as moderate with the total score 33,93 from the total score range 15,00 - 45,00. The income of farmers who are the member of Sido Mukti Gapoktan is more than the farmers who were not members of gapoktan with the difference in income of Rp 3.777.100 ha/year which is proved by the calculations through tabulations and statistical calculations. Based on the results of the calculation of the Spearman correlation, there was no correlation between the role of farmers' income Gapoktan with members Land area, cost of production, labor, production, amount of outreach, and membership together influential while education has no effect on the income of farmer who are gapoktan members and gapoktan non-members. Individually, land area, number of production, elucidation and membership of each respective work give the positive influence on rice production, but the cost of production and labor income give the negative influence to the income.
