Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) considered as a horticultural commodity due to its economic value and significance in people's daily lives. Farmers are encouraged to increase shallot production using various agricultural practices, including fertilizers, due to the increasing demand for potatoes. Finding out how much chicken manure is best for planting Bauji type beets in a swampy environment on bamboo rafts is the main objective of this study. The study took place at the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in Embung, Indralaya Regency, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, and the analysis was carried out at the same place. For this experiment, 48 samples were obtained using the Randomized Block Design (RBD) technique. The design included four treatments and three replications. This study used the following methods: The control group consisted of P0 = 0 g/polybag, while the experimental groups were P1, P2, and P3 = 40, 80, and 120 g/polybag. Shalot growth and yield indicators like leaf length, leaf number, and leaf greenness were unaffected by the use of chicken manure, according to this research. Despite the lack of significant variation between treatments, P2 (20 tons/ha) had the largest average number of leaves and the most lush foliage. Additional research is needed to determine the optimal fertilizer dosage, since this study's results show that shallot growth is unaffected by variations in chicken manure dosages.
