Abstract

Tangkit Baru Village is a center for pineapple production and processing in Jambi Province. This research purposes is (1) identify and describe the pattern of pineapple marketing channels in Tangkit Baru Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muaro Jambi Regency (2) calculate the amount of added value produced by MSMEs in the processing of pineapple jam (3) analyze the prospects of processing fresh pineapple into pineapple jam. This research will be conducted in Tangkit Baru Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province, data collection will be carried out in December 2024. The research method used is the survey method, the sampling method in this study is purposive sampling and snowball sampling method. The number of respondents in this study is 41 pineapple farmers, 8 retail traders, 3 collectors and 5 MSMEs. The data is analyzed using tabulation and then mathematically calculated using Microsoft Excel software and described descriptively. The results showed that (1) Marketing channel I (farmer – retailer – consumer) had an efficiency of 6%, while marketing channel II (farmer – collector – retailer – consumer) had an efficiency of 10%. Marketing channel I is more efficient because the flow is shorter. (2) MSMEs that process fresh pineapples into jam provide an added value of Rp15,130/Kg and an added value ratio of 50.43%. The profit rate of 49.90% shows that pineapple jam processing is very efficient and financially feasible. (3) The income of farmers who process pineapples into jam reaches Rp19,634,000, higher than farmers who only sell fresh pineapples of Rp18,053,750. This indicates that the downstream of agricultural products has great potential in improving the welfare of farmers, especially in small scale or household businesses.
