Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelago country with abundant agricultural and fisheries resources. Riau Islands Province is one of the provinces in Indonesia with an archipelago that is developing the agricultural sector, especially the food and fisheries subsectors. The objectives of the research are: (1) To classify the district/city agricultural sector in Riau Islands Province. (2) To examine food and fisheries commodities that are superior in Riau Islands Province. (3) To identify regions that are leading for each commodity in Riau Islands Province. The data processing method in this research was to used klassen typology analysis, commodities LQ analysis, and regionals LQ analysis with time series data from 2018 until 2022 collected from December 2024 until January 2025. The results of this study are that the agricultural sector in Tanjungpinang City and Batam City is in quadrant II with the potential category, while Lingga, Bintan, Karimun, Anambas Islands, and Natuna Regencies are in quadrant I with the leading category. Cassava and captured fisheries are the leading commodities in Riau Islands Province. Natuna Regency is leading area for rice commodity, Karimun Regency is a leading area for cassava and captured fisheries commodities, and Batam City is a leading area for aquaculture commodities.
