Abstract

Income is the difference between gross income and production costs received by individuals, households, or other economic actors over a certain period. It plays a crucial role in determining welfare, which includes the ability to meet basic needs such as clothing, food, shelter, education, and health. This study aims to: (1) Analyze changes in shrimp farmers' income after becoming independent in Bumi Pratama Mandira Village, (2) Identify factors influencing their income, and (3) Assess their welfare level. The research was conducted from December 2024 to January 2025 using a survey method with 60 respondents. Data were analyzed using the SPSS application through the Classical Assumption Test and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. The welfare level was measured using the Decent Living Needs (KHL) indicator. The results showed that (1) Farmers’ income significantly decreased after becoming independent, with a t-test sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (<0.05) and an average income reduction of Rp 22,946,245 per year. (2) Significant factors affecting income included the cost of feed, nutrients, medicines, and revenue, while fry costs and farming experience had no significant effect. (3) Most shrimp farmers (45 out of 60) were categorized as not prosperous, with only 15 classified as prosperous. A limitation of this study is the lack of in-depth analysis of the company's bankruptcy, which led to farmers transitioning to independent farming.
