Abstract

The temperature and humidity control system in plant houses is crucial for creating optimal conditions for plant growth. Technology that can be used to maintain temperature and humidity includes the micro sprayer misting system. This research aims to modify and test the temperature and humidity control system in plant houses using a micro sprayer misting system on SIEVA PET plots, making it more efficient for green leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) cultivation. The research was conducted from October to December 2024 at the Plant House of Palembang Campus, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method used was a design-build experimental method and descriptive analysis. The main parameters measured included temperature, humidity, bias, and accuracy, while supporting parameters were light intensity and plant growth. The results showed that the system was able to achieve an optimal temperature of 68.88% and an optimal humidity of 64.44%. However, unstable light intensity and high temperatures on several days resulted in suboptimal production of green leaf lettuce, with a maximum fresh weight of 5.48 grams. It is concluded that the temperature and humidity control system with a micro sprayer can be implemented; however, improvements in light intensity control are necessary to enhance green leaf lettuce production.
