Abstract

The research objective was to determine the pitcher irrigation efficiency and effect of MOL (local microorganisms) combinations on organic cultivation of melon The research was conducted ffom May until October, 2011. This research used Split Plot Design with two treatments. Each treatment had three replications. The first treatment was water filling method into pitcher as the main plot. It was crop. consisted of manual method and Mariotte tube method. The second treatment was MOL combination as the subplot. It was consisted of MOL A containing vegetable, pineapple and maja fruit ; MOL B containing vegetable, tiny sea fish waste and pineapple + tiny sea fish waste as well as MOL C containing vegetable, maja fruit and vegetable + tiny sea fish waste. The observed parameters were irrigation water quantity, field application efficiency (Ea), length of crop shoots, leaves number, leaves width and flowers number. The results showed that the highest field application efficiency i s obtained at Mariotte tube (constant water level) with combination of MOL vegetable, tiny fish waste and pineapple + tiny sea fish waste treatment (II B), that was 50,79 %.
