Abstract

The objectives of the research were to describe the farmers’, characteristic in payback the revolving farm paddy seeds variety IR 42. Second, to interprate the farmers participate in payback the revolving farm paddy seeds variety IR 42, and the third to analyze the relationship between farmer characteristics with paddy, farmer participation in payback the revolving farm paddy seeds variety IR 42 in Penumbuhan Kantong Penyangga Produksi Padi (Tongga Prodi) program. The research was taken in Gandus district on June 2006 until July 2006. The method was two cases study. This was a cencus to all of the population which the total number by 28 people who were all of Karya Makmur II farmer group members which got the lent supporting seed in Tongga Prodi program. The data were collected in this research consisted of the primary data and the secondary data. The data was prepared in tabulations and tested in spearman statistical. The results of this research indicated that the farmers’ characteristic which were age in rank of 26 -39 year. The education level of farmer was most of them passed in Elementary level, the total family members rate were 2-6 people and their average was income Rp. 4.036.629 per hectare per year. The participation level of farmer in payback the seed lent was moderate. formal education level and farming income indicated positive relationship with the farmer participation in payback the rice seed.
