Abstract
DHIYA APRILIA. Factors that Affect the Consumption of Cooking Oil by Households and Fried Food Traders in Ogan Ilir Regency (Supervised by MUHAMMAD YAZID and DESI ARYANI). The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in slower economic growth which implicates the demand for basic necessities. Indonesia’s economic condition, which has not yet recovered, has a huge impact on people's consumption behavior due to the tendency of consumers to reduce household consumption, resulting in national economic instability. One of the basic necessities that has an impact on instability is cooking oil. This study aimed to: 1) Calculate the amount of cooking oil consumption by households and fried food traders in Ogan Ilir Regency; 2) Analyze the factors that influence the amount of cooking oil consumption by households and fried food traders in Ogan Ilir Regency; 3) Analyze changes in consumption patterns such as changes in the type of cooking oil used and changes in the amount of cooking oil consumption by households and fried food traders in Ogan Ilir Regency due to the scarcity and increase in cooking oil; and 4) Analyze the behavior of the use and handling of cooking oil waste by households and fried food traders in Ogan Ilir Regency. This research used a survey method. This research was conducted in June 2023 with a sample size of 68 households and 37 fried food traders in Indralaya Raya Urban Village and Sungai Pinang II Village, Sungai Pinang District, Ogan Ilir Regency. Data was processed using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression. The finding showed that: 1) the highest amount of cooking oil consumption in households is 2 Kg per month and the highest amount of cooking oil consumption by fried food traders is more than 31 Kg per month; 2) Factors that influence the amount of cooking oil consumption by household consumers are the amount of income and the amount of cooking oil used in one cooking and Factors that influence the amount of cooking oil consumption by fried food traders are the price of bulk cooking oil, length of education, ease of obtaining cooking oil, and the amount of cooking oil used in one cooking; 3) There are changes in the pattern of cooking oil consumption carried out by households and fried food traders, including: Changes in the type of cooking oil And Changes in the amount of cooking oil consumption; and 4) The results of the behavior of the use and handling of cooking oil waste are as follows the volume of cooking oil used by households is 250 grams, while for fried food traders it is 2,000 grams in one cooking. The frequency of cooking oil use in households is 2 times, while for fried food traders the highest frequency is 4 times. The handling of cooking oil waste carried out by households is more often directly disposed of, while for fried food traders it is more often collected in a certain place before being disposed of. For the disposal of cooking oil waste, household consumers mostly dispose of it in the drain while fried food traders mostly dispose of it in the trash and drain.
