Abstract

ABSTRACT The Revisi UU Pilkada received negative responses, leading to demonstrations in various regions across Indonesia. The discourse surrounding the Revisi UU Pilkada grew significantly, in part due to the narrative constructed by Narasi Newsroom, which was the first media outlet to publish a "State of Emergency Warning" as an editorial stance in response to the event. Narasi Newsroom actively published various news content regarding the Revisi UU Pilkada. This study aims to analyze the discourse of news content on the Revisi UU Pilkada constructed by the Instagram account @narasinewsroom. The research employs a qualitative approach using Teun A. van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis theory, which examines text structures, social cognition, and social context. Data collection techniques in this study include documenting and selecting news content, as well as conducting in-depth interviews with the Editor-in-Chief of Narasi TV and the Executive Producer of Narasi Newsroom.The findings indicate that the textual content of news coverage on the Revisi UU Pilkada is influenced by cognition and the socio political context under President Joko Widodo's administration. Narasi Newsroom took a firm stance in rejecting the law, a position rooted in the media’s principles of democracy and participation, which in turn influenced the realities highlighted in its news content. The position of Narasi Newsroom as an opponent of the law resulted in an imbalance within the news content on the Revisi UU Pilkada, particularly concerning the selection of sources.
