Abstract

Lettuce crop prospect and sale value are quite high. Cultivation of lettuce plants can use a polybag with a volume of media containing soil as a medium to grow plants. The addition of macro and micro nutrients for plants using liquid organic fertilizier which can be applied through leaves.The aim of the research was to get optimum polybag sizes and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of lettuce. Research was conducted in June to August 2016 in shaded house and Plant Physiology Laboratory of the Department of Agronomy, University of Sriwijaya. The design was completely randomized factorial design with 2 factors, they were the size of polybags 15 x 20 cm (P1), 25 x 25 cm (P2) and 30 x 30 cm (P3) and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer without treatment (N0), 5 ml/L of water (N1), 10 ml/L of water (N2) and 15 ml/L of water (N3). So, there were 48 experimental plants. Results showed that treatment polybag size 30 x 30 cm and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer 15 ml/L of water did not increase the yield of lettuce plants. Polybag size 15 x 20 cm and 25 x 25 cm may increase in the leaf number of 7 dap - 35 dap, so the lettuce could be harvested 35 dap. While the polybag size of 30 x 30 cm increased leaf number at the age of 7 dap - 52 dap.
