Abstract
The aim of this study were to determine the response of nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum L) plant seedlings to various water levels and duration of waterlogging. This study was conducted from April 2024 to December 2024 in the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra (3.22019662ºS 104.64742997ºE). The study used a Randomised Design Nested Pattern (Nested Design). By using 2 factors, namely the waterlogging duration factor (D) which is nested in the main factor (P), namely the waterlogging height. Grouping is based on waterlogging height with 9 replications, so there are 108 plant units. The treatments used in this study were P0 No Flooding (Control), P1 (Water Height 15 cm below Ground Surface), P2 (Water Height 5 cm below Ground Surface), P3 (Water Height 0 cm from Ground Surface), P4 (Water Height 5 cm above Ground Surface), P5 (Water Height 15 cm above Ground Surface). The variable observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, greenness of leaves, wet and dry weights above the soil surface, wet and dry weights below the soil surface and other supporting variable. The results showed that the treatment of various water level and waterlogging period had a very significant effect in suppressing the growth of nyamplung plants. The treatment of water level of 15 cm above ground level (P5) was the treatment that most suppressed the growth of nyamplung plants. Morphological adaptations in the form of lenticels and Adventive roots were formed in all inundation treatments. Treatment with a water level of 0 cm from the soil surface formed 100% lenticels and 50% Adventive roots, inundation 5 cm above the soil surface formed 100% lenticels and 45% Adventive roots, and inundation 15 cm above the soil surface formed 100% lenticels and 10% Adventive roots.
