Abstract

Oil palm is an industrial/plantation crop that is important for the Indonesian economy. This plant is processed into various commercial products, such as vegetable oil, fuel, and other derivative products. In oil palm nurseries, improving the quality of the planting medium can be done by fertilizing. Inorganic fertilizers are fertilizers that are commonly used by farmers, but excessive use can cause losses. The efficiency of inorganic fertilizer use can be done by applying bamboo root PGPR. The use of PGPR as a growth promoter for oil palm seedlings in the pre nursery stage is still rarely done. This study aims to determine the effect of bamboo root PGPR application in the pre nursery of oil palm plants and determine the best concentration of bamboo root PGPR application on oil palm plant growth. The research was conducted in September 2024 - January 2025 at the Shadow House, Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a Randomized Block DesigN (RBD), namely by giving the concentration level of PGPR bamboo roots with six treatments, four blocks so that there were 24 experimental units. Each experimental unit contained three plants, so that in total there were 72 plants. As for each combination of PGPR bamboo root used, namely: P0 (Control, NPK fertilizer 10 grams/liter of water), P1 (Bamboo Root PGPR Concentration 3% was dissolving 30 ml PGPR in 1 liter of water), P2 (Bamboo Root PGPR Concentration 4%), P3 (Bamboo Root PGPR Concentration 5%), P4 (Bamboo Root PGPR Concentration 6%), and P5 (Bamboo Root PGPR Concentration 7%). The observed variables were plant height, stem diameter, number of plant leaves, plant leaf area, specific leaf area, leaf thickness, leaf greenness, petiole length, root length, stem diameter, root fresh weight, crown fresh weight, root dry weight, crown dry weight, root crown ratio, and soil pH. The results showed that the application of several concentrations of bamboo root PGPR influenced the number of leaves at 14 weeks after planting and final soil pH, while had no effect on other variables. Bamboo root PGPR with 3% Bamboo Root PGPR Concentration showed the best results in the early seedling of oil palm compared to other bamboo root PGPR concentration treatments.
