Abstract

Background: foster foster pattern is the way the mother or caregiver in giving food to children. Inappropriate diet can have a negative impact on child nutritional status, which affects the growth and development. Nutritional problems are not only caused by improper diet, but can be caused by several other factors. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the foster pattern of feeding in children aged 6-59 months in Hamlet Sembilang. Method: This study used a cross sectional study design with a number of 53 toddlers aged 6-59 months, which was taken with a simple random sampling technique. Data is collected through primary data and analysis in univariate, bivariate and multivariate. Bivariate analysis uses the Chi-square test and Spearman's RHO statistical test and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression tests. Results: The results of the univariate analysis showed 64.2% foster patterns of food that was not appropriate in children in Hamlet Sembilang, 52.8% of children aged 6-24 months, 54.7% of children male, 64.2% of families with less economic status, 90.6% of mothers did not work, 69.8% of mothers who are school, 58.5% of mothers with sufficient knowledge and 66% of children with normal nutrition. The results of the bivariate analysis there is a significant relationship with the knowledge of Ms. P = 0.001 and the age of the child p = 0.047 against fostering foster patterns. The most related factors with foster patterns are maternal knowledge (p = 0.001; or = 12,629). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that mothers who have less risky knowledge of 12,629 times have a foster pattern of feeding that is not good, compared to mothers with good knowledge.
