Abstract

The preparation of Ni3N/SiO2-Al2O3 catalyst was carried out by adding anhydrous nickel metal to the SiO2-Al2O3 catalyst support by impregnation, then calcination was carried out for 4 hours at a temperature of 700°C. The results were nitrided using hydrogen gas for 2 hours at a temperature of 600°C. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the catalyst product and its performance on CPO hydrocracking catalysis. Catalyst characterization was in the form of acidity analysis, XRF, XRD, SAA, and PSA testing. Characterization of hydrocracking products included determination of selectivity, density measurement and analysis of C, H, N, S, O. Chemical characterization showed that the catalyst had an acidity level of 7.44 mmol/gram, while the results of XRF testing confirmed the addition of Ni elements in the catalyst by 21.72%. Physical characterization was in the form of testing using XRD, SAA, and PSA. The Ni metal peak was detected at an angle of 2θ 44.72°; 52.3°, and 76.48°, with a surface area of 29.50 m²/g, pore volume of 0.06 cm³/g, pore radius of 45.59 Å, pore diameter of 9.11 nm and average particle size of 3972.79 nm. The results of the catalyst performance test on hydrocracking products showed a selectivity percentage of biogasoline fractions of 23.14815%, while the catalyst support was 17.36434%. The average density value of the hydrocracking product was 0.84 g/mL. The CPO hydrocracking product produced using the catalyst product experienced an increase in carbon and hydrogen content and a decrease in oxygen content, compared to the catalyst support which did not experience significant changes.
