Abstract
This study aims to develop an instructional tool in the form of a welding practice jobsheet based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) for students of the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas Sriwijaya. The development is motivated by students' need for relevant learning materials that support comprehensive understanding of practical activities. The previously used jobsheets were considered less effective, as they did not fully apply the project- based approach and lacked engaging presentation. Therefore, a more structured, communicative, and supportive jobsheet was developed to enhance student independence and skill mastery in welding practice. This study employed the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), limited to a restricted dissemination phase. In the define stage, a needs analysis was conducted through observations and questionnaires, revealing that 87% of students expressed the need for a PjBL-based jobsheet. The design includes concise work instructions, appealing visuals, and a project-based assessment rubric. Validation results from content and media experts yielded scores of 95% and 94%, respectively, indicating a “very valid” category. Practicality testing through one-to-one and small group trials involving 23 students produced a practicality percentage of 87.82%, categorized as “very practical.” Thus, the developed jobsheet is deemed suitable for use as an innovative learning medium in project-based welding practice.
