Abstract

Athletes' motivation and interest in participating in training is an important factor in developing sports skills and achievements. This research aims to determine the level of interest and motivation of futsal athletes in participating in training at the Arsenio Palembang Club. The research method used is a quantitative descriptive method with a survey technique using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The sample in this study was 30 futsal athletes at the Arsenio Palembang Club. The research results showed that the athlete's motivation level in participating in training was in the high category with a percentage of 73%, the medium category 18%, and the low category 9%. The main factors that influence athlete motivation include enjoyment of playing futsal, the goal of becoming a professional athlete, support from parents, and adequate conditions of facilities and infrastructure. However, some athletes with low motivation complain about the lack of variety in the training programs provided by coaches. Therefore, it is necessary to innovate in training methods to increase athletes' interest and motivation so that they remain consistent in participating in training.
