Abstract

The purposes of this research were to determine the bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity of crude extract seagrass Halodule sp. with terraced maceration extraction process using three types of solvent based on the degree of polarity (n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol). The research was conducted on November 2015 until may 2016, at the Laboratory of Fisheries Technology, Laboratory of Chemical Agricultural Technology, Research Laboratory of Chemical Department faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Laboratory of Dasar Bersama Sriwijaya University, Research Laboratory of Study Center Biofarmaka LPPM IPB, and Examination Laboratory of Research Center and Development of Products Competitiveness and Biotechnologi of Marine and Fisheries Jakarta. This research used laboratory experimental methods and the data was analysed descriptively. The parameters were observed is testing phytochemical compounds include flavonoids, alkaloids (reaction Wegner, mayer, dragendrof), tannins and saponins and analysis of antioxidants with DPPH methods and methods reducing power. Bioactive compounds that can an antioxidant contained in the plant seagrass Halodule sp. are flavonoids, tannins and saponins. The antioxidant activity with DPPH method has the highest activity in the final extraction results extract with ethanol, with IC50 values of 18.7 ppm. The results of antioxidant activity by the method of reducing power generating absorbance values that have higher power reduction with increasing concentrations used in each stage of the extraction. From the antioxidant activity of both the test methods used, extremely powerful antioxidant activity of the last phase extraction circuit which uses a polar solvent.
