Abstract
Background :Physiological changes during pregnancy and damage that occurs during childbirth can cause pelvic floor dysfunction. Risk factors for pelvic floor dysfunction are body mass index (BMI), duration of the second stage of labor, method of delivery, parity, perineal lacerations, and birth weight of the baby. Damage that occurs during childbirth can recover within 12-24 weeks after delivery. This study aims to determine the relationship between urogenital complaints and delivery methods in primiparous women 12 weeks postpartum at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang. Method: This study is a cross sectional study with a sample of primiparous women 12 weeks postpartum at the Integrated Maternal and Child Outpatient Clinic, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang who have met the inclusion criteria. The sample was interviewed using the PFDI-20 questionnaire. Statistical tests were conducted to determine the relationship between urogenital complaints and delivery methods in primiparous women postpartum. Results: There were 54 samples of primiparous women after 12 weeks of delivery that met the criteria, 19 samples were vaginal and 35 samples were cesarean section. The prevalence of urogenital complaints in primiparous women after vaginal delivery were pelvic organ prolapse 56.5%, urinary incontinence 53.8%, and alvi incontinence 55.6%. While the prevalence of urogenital complaints in primiparous women after cesarean section were pelvic organ prolapse 43.5%, urinary incontinence 46.2%, and alvi incontinence 44.4%. There was a significant relationship between delivery method and urogenital complaints that arose after 12 weeks of delivery in primiparous women, namely complaints of pelvic organ prolapse (p = 0.005), complaints of urinary incontinence (p = 0.006), and alvi incontinence (p = 0.002). Conclusion :There is a significant relationship between the method of delivery and urogenital complaints that arise after delivery in primiparous women, namely complaints of pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, and anal incontinence.
