Abstract
Urbanization and deforestation exacerbate ecosystem degradation, increasing the risk of flooding and siltation, which are global challenges. This research aims to overcome the problem by designing a water level measuring instrument using Arduino UNO R3 integrated with visible light communication (VLC), with a red laser diode transmitter and a solar cell photodetector. The US- 015 sensor used has an accuracy of 99.97% and a precision of 99.98%, with a percentage error of <0.1%. This bidirectionally VLC system uses MODEM 1 for data command and MODEM 2 for water level measurement. The use of PWM modulation technique enables data transmission up to 100 m in air medium, while data transmission reaches 3 meters in clear water medium.
