Abstract
The management of liquid waste containing heavy metals such as lead (Pb) presents a serious environmental challenge in Indonesia due to their toxic nature, which can pollute ecosystems and endanger human health. The pH parameter is a critical indicator in waste management, as it influences the solubility, mobility, and toxicity of heavy metals. Conventional methods of pH monitoring have significant limitations, including the lack of real-time data and the requirement for intensive labor. This study aims to design and evaluate an automatic pH monitoring system using the SEN0161 pH sensor integrated with an ESP32 microcontroller, an I2C LCD display, and the Blynk application. The system is designed to provide real-time and remote pH monitoring and was tested on liquid waste samples containing heavy metals. The test results show that the SEN0161 pH sensor achieved an accuracy of 98.58% and a precision of 99.60%, with a average measurement error of less than 1.2%. Although a slight decrease in accuracy was observed in solutions containing Pb²⁺ ions due to ionic interference, the error remained well below the acceptable tolerance threshold of 5%. Based on this performance, the system is considered suitable for automatic and efficient pH monitoring applications in liquid waste management.
