Abstract

The Center Park Palembang housing located in Talang Kelapa Village, Alang-Alang Lebar District, often experiences inundation during high-intensity rain due to a drainage system that is not optimal in draining rainwater runoff. This study aims to analyze the discharge of the plan and the capacity of existing drainage channels, calculate the capacity of one bioretention unit, and evaluate the influence of bioretention planning as a solution with the Low Impact Development (LID) approach. The data used included primary data in the form of soil permeability data, the latest land use data, the latest existing channel dimension data and data from resident interviews, as well as secondary data in the form of daily rainfall for 11 years (2014–2024) from the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II BMKG Station, topographic maps (DEM), land use, drainage networks, and plan layouts. The results of the study show a discrepancy between the planned discharge and the existing discharge, as simulations using EPA SWMM 5.2 indicate that the current drainage channel capacity is insufficient to accommodate surface runoff. Based on the planning and calculation results, a single bioretention unit has a capacity of 3.6885 m³. To effectively mitigate flooding in the Center Park Palembang Housing complex, it is necessary to install 47 bioretention units, which will be strategically placed evenly along the drainage path from upstream to downstream areas.
