Abstract

Utilization of Lemna perpusilla for fish feed as an alternative to reduce the use of commercial feed. The use of L. perpusilla meal is more profitable than fresh form because it can be stored longer. Masheer fish (Tor soro) which is an omnivore fish tends to be herbivores need feed that contains protein from plant materials. This study conducted to determine the best combination of commercial feed with L. perpusilla meal for masheer fish. This research was conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory and Experimental Pond, and Basic Fisheries Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya. Proximate analysis of feed was conducted at the Laboratory of Processing Chemistry and Sensory of Agricultural Products, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya. This research was carried out on August-October 2024. This study used a completely randomized design consisting of five treatments and three replications, namely P0 (100% commercial feed), P1 (75% commercial feed and 25% L. perpusilla meal), P2 (50% commercial feed and 50% L. perpusilla meal), P3 (25% commercial feed and 75% L. perpusilla meal), P4 (100% L. perpusilla meal). The results showed that the combination of 75% commercial feed and 25% L. perpusilla (P1) was the best treatment that results in absolute weight growth of 0.66±0.14 g, absolute length growth of 0.73±0.06 cm, protein efficiency ratio of 2.71±0.65, feed conversion ratio of 1.24±0.28 and survival rate was 100%. The water quality values for all treatments during rearing period was still in the range that supports the survival of masheer fish, namely temperatures ranging from 26.5-27.8°C, pH ranging from 6.51-7.03, dissolved oxygen ranging from 4.0-4.8 mg L-1, and ammonia ranging from 0.028 to 0.073 mg L-1.
