Abstract

This study aimed to test the antidiabetic activity of seeds and peels extracts of duku fruits (Lansium domesticum Corr.)potential to decrease blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes rats by inducing streptozotocin 100 mg/kg BW. The extraction optimation determined using MAE (Microwave-Assisted Extraction) method andpropylene glycol 10-25% solvent. The optimation results with DPPH method showed that 10% propylen glycol has high antioxidant of seeds extract with percentage inhibition value of 67,771% and 25% propylen glycol has high antioxidant of peels extract with percentage inhibition value of 90,227%. The result of AUC0-15 and percentage of decreasing blood glucose levels for positive control group were 456,65 and 65,92%, 3 treatments of seeds extract groups with 50;100;200 mg/kg BW doses, respectively were 785,94 and 73,15%; 684,78 and 72,59%; 557,38 and 60,60%, and 3 treatments of peels extract groups with 50;100;200 mg/kg BW doses, respectively were 544,98 and 61,29%; 556,43 and 66,27%; 799,82 and 72,54%. This result of this study showed that peels and seeds extract duku fruits had an antidiabetic activity and there were no significant differences compared with metformin (p<0,05). ED50 value extrapolating results of seeds extract was 794,33 mg/kg BW and ED50 value extrapolating results of peels extract was12,88 mg/kg BW.
