Abstract

One strategy to increase rice farmers' production, productivity, and income is to implement mechanization in rice farming. Basically, the use of machinery in agriculture also aims to improve human work efficiency in the production process, with each stage of production utilizing agricultural tools and machinery. The objectives of this study are: (1) To analyze the comparison of labor use in rice farming before and after using a combine harvester in Pangkalan Gelebak Village, Banyuasin, (2) To analyze the comparison of rice productivity before and after using a combine harvester in Pangkalan Gelebak Village, Banyuasin, and (3) To analyze the comparison of rice farmers' income before and after using a combine harvester in Pangkalan Gelebak Village, Banyuasin. This research was conducted in Pangkalan Gelebak Village, Banyuasin. The method used in this research was the survey method. This study used simple random sampling with the sample size calculated using the Slovin formula. The sample size was 42 rice farmers. The data collection method in this study used primary and secondary data. The data analysis method in this study used a paired sample t-test to see the comparison of labor use, productivity, and income before and after using a combine harvester. The results of this study are: (1) There is a difference in the amount of labor used before and after using the combine harvester, with a difference of 27,25 HOK and a decrease of 57,56%, (2) There is a difference in rice productivity before and after using the combine harvester, with a difference of 1,0 ton/ha/year and an increase of 13,3%, and (3) There is a difference in income before and after using a combine harvester, with a difference of Rp7.888.403,-/ha/year and an increase of 32,37%.
