Abstract
Background: Long working hours and static working postures in dentists can increase the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). These musculoskeletal complaints are also experienced by dental students as they perform dental procedures that require maintaining repetitive body positions for extended periods. Aims: This study aimed to determine the relationship between working posture and MSD complaints among dental profession students at RSKGM South Sumatera. Methods: This study was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The respondents consisted of 77 dental professional students who performed dental procedures in a seated position across all departments at RSKGM South Sumatra. Work posture was assessed using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), while musculoskeletal complaints were measured using the Nordic Body Map questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. Result: The p-value from the Chi-Square test was 0.000, indicating a significant relationship between work posture and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among dental profession students at RSKGM Sumatera Selatan. Conclusion: The lower the ergonomic risk associated with working posture, the fewer the MSD complaints reported.
