Abstract

This purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Total Mixed Fiber‟s composition to the fiber degradability based on proportion of swamp grass and by product agro industry as the ingredients. This study was done from July to September 2015 on Animal Feed and nutrition laboratory, Department of animal science, Agriculture Faculty Sriwijaya University. Completely Randomized Design was applied with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were P0 (60% elephant grass), P1 (40% Hymenachne acutigluma + 20% rice straw), P2 (40% Hymenachne acutigluma + 20% palm oil frond), P3 (20% Hymenachne acutigluma + 20% rice straw + 20% oil pal frond), P4 (30% rice straw + 30% oil palm frond). Degradability of crude fiber, (NDF) Neutral Detergent Fiber and (ADF) Acid Detergent Fiber were observed as parameters. The result showed that all parameters were not significantly affected (P>0,05). Therefore, TMF may substitute Napier Grass as fiber sources to beef cattle ration.
