Abstract

Railway workshop or maintenance center for trains, locomotives and carriages in Lahat, is one of the places that has high dangers and risks, especially for the Upper Frame of the Carriage Body Unit. This study aims to analyze the potential hazards and risks in the carriage body maintenance process at PT. KAI Train Maintenance Facility using JSA with reference to the AS/NZS 4360:1999 standard. This study is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique with seven informants. Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews and JSA Worksheets. The results of the study showed potential hazards and risks in the preparation, maintenance and final inspection stages. Potential hazards and risks identified include mechanical hazards, ergonomic hazards, chemical hazards, physical hazards, electrical hazards, unsafe actions and unsafe conditions with acceptable to very high risk levels. To prevent work accidents, control efforts that can be made are using elimination techniques, substitution, engineering, administration and PPE. This research suggests that it is necessary to implement well-documented K3 risk management at each stage of work such as Job Safety Analysis as a systematic hazard identification and control tool.
