Abstract

The Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS) policy has raised pros and cons in the community, especially regarding concerns about the decline in service quality and adjustments to contributions. Understanding patient perceptions is important to assess the extent to which this policy is accepted. However, there has been no research related to patient perceptions of KRIS at Dr. Rivai Abdullah General Hospital. The purpose of this study was to analyze the perceptions of patients using inpatient services regarding the standard inpatient class policy at Dr. Rivai Abdullah General Hospital. This study is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were inpatients at Dr. Rivai Abdullah General Hospital who met the inclusion criteria. The sample of this study was 117 inpatient respondents. Data analysis used in this study was univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed that the majority of patients had positive perceptions (65%). Based on the factors that form perceptions, respondents assessed good attitudes (76.1%), motivation (63.2%), interest (65.8%), experience (71.8%) and expectations (77.8%). The results of the Chi-square test obtained statistically significant variables were the last education (p = 0.009), occupation (p = 0.044) and other unrelated variables were age and gender. The finding that there were still respondents who had negative perceptions indicated that this policy had not been fully accepted by all patients, although most patients had positive perceptions. It is recommended that hospitals need to strengthen the role of frontline service officers in providing direct education to patients regarding the contents and benefits of standard inpatient class policies to overcome negative perceptions and ensure more effective dissemination of information.
