Abstract

This study review about “Social Transformation of Society Mekar Wangi Village (case study land transition of palm oil plantation to be free way Mesuji-Palembang). The purpose of this study is to describe process of social transformation in society Mekar Wangi before and after land transition of plam oil plantation to be free way Mesuji-Palembang. The method used in this study is qualitative. And informant in this study amounted to 14. Data collection techniques did with observation, interview and documentation. This study used theory of social transformation from Piotr Sztompka. The result is there has been a transformation of social interaction experienced by society, aspecially palm oil farmers and transformation society economy as long as increasing so as had made crime rate be on the wane. Even though income of society increased, but nothing changed in the employement sector, because society in Mekar Wangi keep working as a farmer, even though there has been land transition. In addition, there are also changes in the mindset of the people that occur after the transition of land.
