Abstract

Dye sensitized solar cells are a type of solar cell technology that uses dye to absorb light above a layer of TiO₂ semiconductor. Dye sensitized solar cells consist of a layer of TiO₂ semiconductor, dye as a light absorber, electrolyte as an electron donor, and a counter electrode, with a structure resembling a sandwich. Dye plays a crucial role in Dye Sensitized Solar Cells as it captures light and converts it into electricity. One of the primary factors affecting DSSC efficiency is the type of dye used, as each dye can only absorb light within a specific wavelength range. This limitation can be overcome by combining two or more types of dyes with different absorption spectra, thereby achieving broader light absorption and improving solar cell performance. This study aimed to investigate the effect of combining natural dyes from anthocyanins of senduduk fruit and butterfly pea flowers in various ratios 1:1, 1:3, and 3:1on enhancing DSSC efficiency. The research process consisted of three main stages: preparation of the DSSC structure, assembly of the DSSC layers, and measurement of the electrical characteristics of the DSSC. The parameters observed included absorbance, bandgap energy, generated voltage and current, maximum power, fill factor, and efficiency. The results showed that the use of dye combinations provided better performance than single dyes, with the best results obtained at a ratio of 1:3, producing Voc of 611 mV, Isc of 67,7 µA, Vmax of 275 mV, Imax of 0,0547 mA, Pmax of 15,0425 µW, and an efficiency of 0,0541%.
