Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to know poverty level of farmer household through income earned from farm activities. 2) identify businesses potential that can be developed into programs decrease of poor farmers in Palembang City. 3) analyze the type of farming management and the activities that can be recommended to achieve optimal income for poor farmers in Palembang City. This research ware carried out in two different locations. the first location is in subdistrict of Gandus especially Pulokerto Village and the second location is in subdistrict of Kalidoni especially in Sungai Lais Village. The election of both locations are done purposive with the consideration that both locations there are many poor farmers household. The research and data collection was carried out from April to June 2016. The methods used in the research is a survey method, the data used is the primary data and secondary data. Withdrawal methods example using multy stage proportionate stratified random sampling with the total samples used as many as 46 poor farmers that consists of 24 poor farmers in Pulokerto Village and 22 poor farmers at Sungai Lais Village. The results of this research showed that the total income of farmer household in Palembang that is amounting to Rp 18.512.098,98/years or 257.112,49/capita/month, this means farmers are still included in the category of poor because farmer income was below the poverty line with the threshold of Rp 378.739/capita/month. The potential of resources owned by a poor farmers households in Palembang that is composed of Natural Resources in the form of land, human resources in the form of the number of productive labor, capital resources and financial means in the form of urban prasaranan in the city of Palembang, the potential of social capital in the form of mutual trust and who are still awake. The type of farming that is recommended is a rice plant with an area of land concession of 0.87 ha assuming the maximum Income that farmers should receive Rp 7.640.094/ha/years. Recommended activities are 1) training of land use and land court, 2) utilization of agricultural technology, 3) cultivation of ducks, 4) the construction of the container or the Agency for marketing the harvest as well as distribution to be accepted by the market and 5) assistance for livestock goats.
