Abstract

The purpose of this research were to: (1)identifies the use production factor of rice farmers in the use of organic fertilizer and not use organic fertilizer on tidal land in the Mariana Village, district of Banyuasin, (2)identifies the factors that influence the decision of rice farmers in the use of organic fertilizer or not use organic fertilizer on tidal land, and (3) calculate the income of rice farmers in the use of organic fertilizer and not use organic fertilizer on tidal land. This research was conducted in the village of Mariana, Subdistrict Banyuasin 1, Banyuasin, South Sumatera. Selection of the location of this research is done intentionally (purposive) The method used in this research is a survey method. This research was conducted in May 2016. The sampling method used in this research is disproportionate stratified random sampling with a total sample of 60 farmers. The first layer are 30 farmers who cultivate rice plants using organic fertilizers and the second layer are 30 farmers who cultivate rice plants inorganic fertilizer. The results showed that the factors that significantly affect the production of rice in the Mariana village Subdistrict of Banyuasin 1 at the first layer were number of seeds, land area and total employment and the total employment has positive value of the regression coefficient, production factors such as the fertilizer and pesticides number does not affect significantly. At the second layer, the factors that significantly affect the production were land area, fertilizer, pesticides and total employment. The average of revenue obtained from rice farmer in the first layer is done by example farmers in Mariana Village Subdistrict of Banyuasin 1 namely Rp 3.112.116 per hectare in 2015 and the second layer namely Rp 2.347.424 per hectare in 2015. Factors that influence the decisions of farmers in the use of organic fertilizer or not to use organic fertilizers significantly in Mariana village District of Banyuasin I were age, experience, education, the number of dependents, the number of fertilizer.
