Abstract
This research aims to develop problem-solving problems that have a high level of validity and practicality by raising the theme of palm sugar iced coffee as a context. The subject of this study is 22 students in grade VIII at Prof. Muhajirin Applied Islamic Junior High School Palembang. The methodology used is in the form of design research with a development studies approach using the Tessmer model, which includes two main stages, namely Preliminary study and formative evaluation. The instruments designed include a number of problem-solving questions, grids, question cards, and assessment rubrics. The validity aspect was analyzed through an expert review that included content, question structure, and language, and was reviewed through feedback from a one-to-one trial. Meanwhile, practicality was evaluated through questionnaires distributed during the small group trial. Based on the validation of the expert review, a validity percentage of 82.9% was obtained which was categorized as very valid and based on the practicality questionnaire obtained a practicality percentage of 80% which was included in the practical category. Before being used in the field test, a validity test was also carried out on 10 questions with the results of all questions declared valid based on the value of r calculated > r table (1.725). Meanwhile, the results of the reliability test showed a value of r11 = 0.910 with a very high category, which indicates that the developed questions have excellent internal consistency. The problem-solving questions developed also have student problem-solving skills as seen in the analysis of the test results carried out where the average level of students' problem-solving ability is in the good category.
