Abstract
This study examines how technological innovation and monetary policy influence sustainable development proxied by CO₂ emissions in the six highest carbonemitting countries (China, United States, Russia, India, Japan, South Korea) over 1997–2022. Using panel data regression (Fixed-Effects Model), we test five determinants: R&D intensity (tech innovation), real interest rate (monetary policy), renewable energy share, trade openness, and GDP growth. Results show that greater technological innovation and trade openness significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, while GDP growth tends to increase emissions. Real interest rate and renewable energy share have no statistically significant effect.Policy implications call for stronger R&D support, liberalized trade in green technologies, and growth models decoupled from fossil-fuel dependence.
