Abstract
Isobutanol plant with a production capacity of 38,000 tons per year is planned to begin operation in 2033 and will be located in the Guntung district, Bontang City, East Kalimantan. Isobutanol in this plant is synthesized from ethanol and syngas feedstocks using a CuO-ZnO-Al₂O₃ catalyst in a fixed-bed multitube reactor based on US Patent No. 2022/0281787 A1. The reaction takes place at a temperature of 340°C and a pressure of 100 atm. This plant operates as a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system, led by a director and employing 151 personnel. The establishment of this Isobutanol plant is deemed feasible as it has met the required economic feasibility parameters.
