Abstract
An acrylic acid plant with a capacity of 40,000 tons/year is planned to begin operations in 2029 in Cipunagara District, Subang Regency, West Java, on a 4.6-hectare site. The production process is based on US Patent 2022/0251018 A1, utilizing the ethylene carbonylation method with carbon monoxide, followed by a thermolysis stage. The reaction occurs in three stages: the initial reaction in a Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactor (CSTR) at 70°C and 60 atm pressure, the second stage involving polymerization in a plug flow reactor at 120°C and 1 atm pressure, and the final stage involving thermolysis in a plug flow reactor at approximately 300°C and 1 atm pressure. The plant is structured as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) with a line-and-staff organizational structure, led by a director and employing 145 staff members.
