Abstract

Taman Nasional Way Kambas di Lampung Timur merupakan tempat pusat konservasi gajah Sumatra sekaligus destinasi wisata edukatif yang dulunya populer melalui atraksi dan tunggangan gajah di Pusat Latihan Gajah sejak 1985. Serta terbagi dalam beberapa zona termasuk zona pemanfaatan intensif dipergunakan untuk pariwisata. Namun, pandemi COVID-19 dan larangan atraksi gajah menyebabkan penurunan tajam jumlah wisatawan, berdampak pada ekonomi warga desa peyanggah yang bergantung pada aktivitas wisata. Dirancangnya Museum Gajah dengan pendekatan arsitektur berkelanjutan yang menggunakan material lokal, daur ulang, dan pengelolaan lahan secara efisien serta selaras dengan alam. Museum gajah ini diharapkan menjadi daya tarik baru yang mampu meningkatkan kembali kunjungan wisatawan, memperkuat edukasi konservasi, dan mendorong kesejahteraan masyarakat desa peyanggah.
