Abstract

Palembang City is highly prone to flooding, particularly during the rainy season, due to a combination of high rainfall intensity, tidal river surges. Inadequate drainage systems, and rapid land-use change. This study aims to map flood vulnerability levels in Palembang using a Geographic Information System (GIS) with overlay and scoring methods applied to five key parameters: rainfall, slope, soil type. land use, and river buffer distance. Spatial data were sourced from various secondary datasets, including DEM, land use maps, and CHIRPS rainfall records. The analysis revealed that 84,61 % of the area isclassified as medium vulnerability, 10,48 % as low vulnerability, and 4,91% as high vulnerability. High-risk zones are predominantly located in low-lying areas near major rivers and dense residential settlements. The resulting flood vulnerability map offers critical insights to support local governments and communities in flood mitigation planning and disaster risk management.
