Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of students' prosocial self-efficacy in the context of volunteering, as well as to analyze the differences in prosocial self-efficacy between male and female students. Prosocial self-efficacy is an individual's belief in their ability to perform voluntary and socially meaningful acts of helping others. This study employs a comparative quantitative approach using descriptive analysis and the Mann-Whitney U test. The research subjects were 109 students from State High School 1 Palembang, selected through convenience sampling. The results showed that, in general, students' levels of prosocial self-efficacy were in the moderate category. Students demonstrated the highest level of confidence in anonymous forms of assistance, while the lowest scores were found in spontaneous assistance (responsive helping). These findings indicate that students are more comfortable providing assistance that does not involve direct social exposure. From the results of gender difference analysis, it was found that female students had higher prosocial self-efficacy scores in all domains, particularly in forms of assistance provided upon request (compliant helping) and selfless assistance (altruism). However, statistically, only the compliant helping domain showed a significant difference between males and females. This study recommends strengthening prosocial character education programs that consider gender differences and developing volunteer activities in schools.
